Hal is a largely self taught artist who has had the good fortune of the friendship of two great landscape painters, Joe McGurl and Bill Davis. Numerous painting trips and critiques from these great masters have made his development as a landscape painter more assured and on solid technical ground. He has studied many of the great old masters, especially the American Impressionists and for the past few years the American Tonalists. It is the harmony and atmosphere of these artists that he greatly appreciates and strives toward.
Hal has had numerous one man and group shows in Massachusetts and Long Island. His latest exhibition was at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit MA.
