Like many artists, Roderick O’Flaherty followed a circuitous path to painting. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and a law degree from Cornell before deciding to pursue his true passion of making art. As industrious as he was scholarly, the Boston resident took on a part-time job as a dog-walker to help fund his career transition. In a meet-cute that had him walking everyday from Beacon Hill and the South End to Cambridge and Charlestown, he was exposed to neighborhoods and architecture that would eventually become his muse. His captivating style of art brings to life the charm and character of New England scenery, with subjects ranging from Nantucket to the Back Bay.
